Xylocopa latipes, the tropical carpenter bee, is a species of carpenter bee widely dispersed throughout Southeast Asia. As its name suggests, this bee inhabits forests in warm tropical climates and constructs nests by burrowing into wood. This beautiful specimen shimmers with many colours and comes dehydrated and ready to rehydrate and pin, or to display as is.
It measures approximately 7.5cm wide x 4cm long.
