Silvanus is the Roman god of woodlands, forests and wild pastures. He is mysterious, peaceful and often seen alongside Pan and forest nymphs. Here we depict him crowned with a wreath of pine twigs, whilst holding an oak leaf, one of the most venerated trees in Rome, and symbolic of his divine status as a forest god.
