In Greek mythology, satyrs are drunken woodland spirits, often seen swilling wine and dancing with forest nymphs. They are depicted as mischievous animalistic men, with the lower half of either a horse or goat. Satyrs are attendants of Dionysus, the Grecian god of wine, pleasure and fertility, and would be willing participants in the ritual madness, worship and celebration alongside Dionysus.
